SAN ANGELO, Texas -- Midwestern State had No. 9 Angelo State on the ropes in the fifth and deciding set Friday night at Junell Center/Stephens Arena.
But the Mustangs committed five consecutive attack errors after taking an 11-9 edge allowing the 'Belles to escape with a 25-18, 24-26, 19-25, 25-22, 15-12 win in Lone Star Conference play.

Marija Jovanovic to shine posting a double-double with 55 assists, 13 digs and four total blocks as the Mustangs rallied to claim the second and third sets to push ASU to the brink.
MSU turned away two 'Belle set points in the second frame keyed by consecutive kills by sophomore
Nicole Marzik and senior
Caitlin Wallace, who then gave the Mustangs a set point of their own with a solo block of ASU middle blocker Maddie Huth.
Marzik put the set away with a kill to give the Mustangs momentum.
Junior Katilyn Molloy and freshman
Sarah Garfield spurred an impressive offensive showing for MSU in a dominating third set finishing with five kills each as the committing just three errors with 18 total kills to take control of the match.
The teams played a nip-and-tuck fourth set before the 'Belles claiemd the final three points of the frame to force a fifth set.
But the Mustangs committing eight attack errors in the final set with only two coming on solo blocks by Arielle Bond and Leah McWilliams allowing the win to slip away.
Molloy paced the MSU attack with 13 kills while Wallace and Marzik finished with 12 each. Garfield closed with 11 kills of her own.
The Mustangs proved strong at the net with nine total blocks paced by Wallace with five.
Junior
Casey Fletcher paced back row efforts with 27 digs while redshirt-freshman
Madelyn Johnson had 24.
Bond notched a match-high 24 kills and six total blocks to help Angelo State improve to 7-2 and 1-0.
Midwestern State (7-3, 0-2) take on Tarleton State Saturday afternoon in Stephenville. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
