Mustangs sweep A&M International to go to 6-1

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Senior Caitlin Wallace delivered another big offensive performance and junior Kaitlyn Molloy led a sharp defensive effort to Midwestern State's 26-24, 25-22, 25-16 win over Texas A&M International in the Heartland/Lone Star Conference Crossover Saturday morning at Rip Griffin Center.
 
The Mustangs, who improved to 6-1 on the season, close tournament play against host Lubbock Christian this afternoon at 5 p.m.
 
Wallace needed just 18 attacks to put down a game-high 12 kills while committing two errors for a .556 attack percentage as the Mustangs improved their team kill rate in each set against the Dustdevils.
 
Sophomore outside hitter Marissa Olivares registered eight kills and a pair of service aces, while seniors Beatriz Villalba and Michelle Blount added seven kills each.
 
Senior setter/outside hitter Marija Jovanovic delivered a solid all-around performance with seven kills, 24 assists, six digs and two total blocks, while fellow freshman setter Sarah Rosinke had 19 set assists and eight digs.
 
Molloy continued her solid play at the net with a team-high four total blocks to go along with four kills and six digs, while redshirt-freshman Madelyn Johnson paced back row efforts with 11 digs with two service aces.
 
Alex Ciszek had nine kills to lead Texas A&M International as the Dustdevils fell to 0-8.
