WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Senior guard
Kevin Grayer poured in a career-high 24 points to lead Midwestern State to its fifth straight win taking an 83-72 result over Eastern New Mexico in Lone Star Conference play Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The win reduces the Mustangs' magic number to two as MSU moved to 16-5 on the season and to 12-2 in LSC play. Midwestern can clinch a share of its seventh Lone Star Conference title with home wins against Abilene Christian and Angelo State next week at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
MSU plays host to ACU Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
The Mustangs used a 13-0 run midway through the first half to take control of the game extending their lead to 28-18 when
Cam Adderley tipped in a rare miss by Grayer with 4:18 to play in the opening half.
The teams played pretty evenly the rest of the way as the 'Hounds were unable to get any closer than seven points.
Rafael Love (26 points, 4 3s), Rodeny Blackmon (24 points, 3 3s) and Jordan Romero (12 points, 4 3s) combined for 62 of ENMU's 72 points and for all of its 11 3-pointers.
Grayer connected on 9-of-12 shots for 24 points to go along with four rebounds and four assists while senior forward Corbin Thoma finished with 19 points and seven rebounds in 22 minutes.

Derek Kaster hit a pair of 3-pointers to add 13 points while pulling down three rebounds.
Eastern New Mexico fell to 10-12 on the season and to 7-7 in league play.
