Mustangs men rip Dallas Baptist, East Central to roll to 4-0

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The 24th ranked Midwestern State Mustangs rolled their season record to 4-0 after taking a pair of matches Saturday at the MSU Tennis Center.
 
The Mustangs ripped Dallas Baptist 9-0 in the afternoon and followed with an 8-1 drubbing of No. 48 East Central (Okla.) Saturday night.
 
Against DBU (2-6), the Mustangs did not lose more than three games in any set.
 
Luke Joyce, ranked 39th by the ITA in Division II singles, took care of DBU's Phillip Allen 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1, while Colby Meeks handed Bradley Hilliard a 6-3, 6-2 loss at No.2.
 
Kyle Davidson won at No. 3 over DBU's Anthony Burch 6-3, 6-0, with Franko Siljeg taking No. 4 over Nathan Wilson 6-0, 6-1.  Austin Crawford won at No. 5 over Austin Serrett 6-1, 6-1 as Kacper Boborykin downed Ty McAllister 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.
 
In doubles, Joyce and Meeks ripped Hilliard/Allen 8-2 at No. 1, while Siljeg/Davidson handed Burch/Wilson an 8-1 loss at No. 2 and Crawford and Jarrod Liston handed Serrett/McAllister an 8-1 defeat at No. 3.
 
In the nightcap, the Mustangs led 2-1 over ECU after doubles, as the No. 1 team of Meeks/Joyce beat Julian Caminos and Victor Blasco 8-4 and the No. 2 team of Davidson/Siljeg beat Max DeJuan and Marc Fillat 8-6.
 
However, the Tigers (0-2) got the No. 3 doubles as Stefan Stein and Andrew Cabato edged Liston/Crawford 8-6.
 
But the Mustangs came back to sweep the singles and the match.
 
Meeks had to go long in the first set before taking the No. 2 point over Max DeJuan 7-6 (13-11), 6-2, while Siljeg was extended by Blasco at No. 4, 7-5, 7-5.
 
No other point was as close, with Joyce easily winning at No. 1 over Stein 6-1, 6-2, with Davidson downing Caminos 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3.
 
Crawford won at No. 5 against Fillat 6-1, 6-2, while Boborykin beat Nate Kippling 6-3, 7-5 at No. 6.
 
The Mustangs are in action again on Friday as they host Incarnate Word in Lone Star Conference play at 10 a.m. at the MSU Tennis Center.
