Midwestern State hits the road to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State Thursday night in Alva before returning to the dome to take on Cameron Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.

SCOUTING THE RANGERS
Northwestern  Oklahoma State dropped its third straight match in a five sets Tuesday night to Cameron in Lawton. The Rangers own a 2-10 mark as a provisional member in Great American Conference play. Freshman outside hitter Asia Pipkin leads the NWOSU attack with 2.77 kills per set while freshman outside hitter Hayley Brattain and sophomore outside hitter Alyssa Eicher add 2.11 and 2.04 kills per set, respectively. Freshman setter Tiana Barnett quarterbacks the offense averaging an even 7.00 assists per set directing the Rangers to a .161 team attack percentage. Sophomore defensive specialist Megan Hentschke leads back row efforts with 3.21 digs per set, while freshman middle blocker Elisa Bentsen tops the Rangers at the net with 0.55 blocks per set.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State and Northwestern Oklahoma State meet for the second time on the court Thursday night in Alva. The Mustangs swept the first meeting earlier this season in Wichita Falls.
 
LAST TIME OUT VS. NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA
Junior middle blocker Kaitlyn Molloy put down a team-high 11 kills and completed an all-around performance with five digs, three service aces and three total blocks to lead Midwestern State to a 25-14, 25-19, 25-22 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State at MSU/Hampton Inn-vitational on Sep. 6  in Wichita Falls. Senior outside hitter Beatriz Villalba added nine kills and five digs while senior right-side hitter Michelle Blount pitched in seven kills and two blocks. Hayley Brittain paced the Rangers with 11 kills.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES
Cameron snapped a five-game skid with a five-set win over Northwestern Oklahoma State Tuesday night at Aggie Gym. CU is still looking for its first Lone Star Conference win at 0-14. Sophomore right-side hitter Kelle Carver leads the LSC at 3.72 kills per set to pace the CU attack while sophomore outside hitter Kat Evans and redshirt-freshman outside hitter Grace Newkirk add 2.39 and 2.32 kills per set, respectively. Freshman setter Kayla Hebert guides the Aggies to a .135 team attack percentage while averaging 9.01 assists per set. Sophomore libero Lauren Acuna paces back row efforts with 4.48 digs per set while senior defensive specialist Erin Hardy pitches in 3.95. Cameron is solid at the net led by junior middle hitter Rebecca Green (0.79 bps), sophomore middle hitter Annelise Carpenter (0.71 bps) and freshman middle hitter Paige Holt (0.70 bps).
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State and Cameron meet for the 48th time on the court Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Aggies lead the overall series 30-17, but MSU has won seven of the last eight matches in the series dating back to the start of the 2008 season. Cameron is 13-9 against the Mustangs in matches played in Wichita Falls.
 
LAST TIME OUT VS. CAMERON
Junior middle blocker Kaitlyn Molloy notched eight kills and 10 digs to lead Midwestern State to a 25-15, 25-16, 25-19 win over Cameron on Oct. 5 in Lawton. The Mustangs forced the Aggies into 23 attack errors while limiting CU to a .058 team attack percentage. Senior middle blocker Caitlin Wallace led the effort at the net with four total blocks to go along with five kills. Junior libero Casey Fletcher led back row play with 15 digs while sophomore Nicole Marzik pitched in 11. Kelle Carver recorded 11 kills to pace the Aggies.
 

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
Midwestern State has alternated wins with losses over its last eight games and has won six of its last 10 matches. Senior middle blocker Caitlin Wallace continues to pace the Mustangs' attack with 2.65 kills per set while raising her defensive play averaging 0.91 blocks per set. Sophomore outside hitter Marissa Olivares has come on strong to up her kills per set average to 2.44 per set. The Sachse High product has notched double-doubles in four of her last five outings setting season highs with 16 kills against Texas A&M-Commerce and 32 digs against Dallas Baptist. Freshman setter Sarah Rosinke paces MSU to a .161 team attack percentage averaging 6.23 assists per set. Midwestern ranks 12th in NCAA Division II with 18.41 digs per set as a team paced by junior Casey Fletcher (4.24 dps), redshirt freshman Madelyn Johnson (3.14 dps) and sophomore Nicole Marzik (3.00 dps).
 
LAST TIME OUT
Texas Woman's net play forced Midwestern State into 25 attack errors and a .057 team attack percentage as the Pioneers rolled to a 25-15, 25-21, 25-15 win Saturday in Denton. Chloe' Tate and Marcela Alves posted six total blocks each as TWU finished with 13 total team blocks. MSU sophomore Marissa Olivares posted her fourth double-double of the season to lead the Mustangs with 10 kills and 11 digs, while senior outside hitter Marija Jovanovic put down eight kills while committing two errors in 16 attacks for a .375 kill rate. Alves added 10 kills on 21 attacks (.381) to pace the Pioneers.
 
THE LSC RACE
West Texas A&M used a 17-match winning streak to move out to a comfortable lead in the race for the Lone Star Conference title at 12-0. The Lady Buffs are trailed by Angelo State (10-3), Texas Woman's (9-4), Tarleton State (7-5), Texas A&M-Commerce (6-6), Texas A&M-Kingsville (5-7), MSU (5-9), Eastern New Mexico (3-9) and Cameron (0-14). The top eight teams advance to the LSC Postseason Tournament set for Oct. 21-23 at the site of the regular season league champion.
 
THREE...DOT...THOUGHTS...
Midwestern State split a pair of Lone Star Conference matches on the road last week upending Texas A&M-Commerce in five sets on Thursday before falling to Texas Woman's in three frames Saturday in Denton... The Mustangs have won each of their last three five-setters and are 8-4 when matches extend beyond three sets... The Mustangs remain in seventh place with a 5-9 mark in league play with home matches remaining against Cameron on Saturday and Texas A&M-Kingsville the following Thursday... Senior middle blocker Caitlin Wallace (40) needs four solo blocks to pass Ashley Hester (43 from 1997-00) to move into 10th place on MSU's all-time list... Wallace (279) needs 14 total blocks to pass Molly Truelove (292 total blocks from 1994-95, 97-98) to move into the third on MSU's all-time total blocks list... Wallace put down 14 kills in MSU's matches last week and needs 24 more to eclipse Geneva Hamond (908 kills from 1987-90) to move into 10th on the school's all-time kills list... Wallace ranks second in the LSC with a .332 attack percentage... She has posted four double-doubles over her last five outings...
