DENTON, Texas -- Texas Woman's net play sparked a sizzling attack to take down Midwestern State 25-15, 25-21, 25-15 Saturday afternoon at Kitty Magee Arena.
The Pioneers improved to 18-8 on the season and to 9-4 in league play, while MSU dropped to 13-11 and 5-9.
The Mustangs hit the road for a non-conference match Thursday at Northwestern Oklahoma State before returning home to face Cameron Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
The Pioneers combined for 13 blocks paced by Marcela Alves and Chloe' Tate who had six total blocks each to force Midwestern into 25 attack errors and a paltry .057 team kill percentage.
Sophomore outside hitter
Marissa Olivares paced the Mustangs with 10 kills and completed her fourth double-double in her last five matches with 11 digs while senior outside hitter
Marija Jovanovic notched eight kills with two errors in 16 attacks for a .375 attack percentage.
Redshirt freshman
Madelyn Johnson paced back row efforts with 13 digs, while freshman
Sarah Garfield posted three total blocks -- two solos -- to lead the Mustangs at the net.
Alves notched 10 kills to bolster a TWU attack which hit .223 as a team while Josie Santos added nine kills.
