SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
Dallas Baptist has won six of its last seven matches with its lone October loss coming 3-1 against Tarleton State. The Patriots enter the week tied for second place with an 8-3 mark in the Heartland Conference with Lubbock Christian trailing only Arkansas-Fort Smith (11-0). Junior middle blocker Tiara Iwegbu paces the Patriots attack with 3.54 kills per set but receives solid help from junior outside hitter Erika Papadeas (2.84 kps) and sophomore outside hitter Tadam Mergener (2.00 kps). Sophomore Kaycie Bird (5.18 aps) and senior Tyler Bradsher (5.14 aps) lead DBU's 6-2 system as the Patriots are hitting .174 as a team. Iwegbu also leads Dallas Baptist at the net with 0.86 blocks per set while senior libero Cameron Hartson ranks fifth in NCAA Division II with 6.24 digs per set. Dallas Baptist is one of the top defensive clubs in the nation ranking fourth with 19.78 digs pet set, but also rate 49th in NCAA II with 13.05 kills per set.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State and Dallas Baptist meet for the 51st time on the court Tuesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Mustangs hold a 34-16 edge in the series including a 16-6 advantage in matches played in Wichita Falls.
 
LAST TIME OUT VS. DALLAS BAPTIST
Erika Papadeas (15 kills) and Tadam Mergener (14 kills) combined for 29 kills to lead Dallas Baptist to a 25-17, 25-15, 23-25, 25-16 win over Midwestern State on Oct. 6, 2012 at Burg Center in Dallas. MSU was paced by Caitlin Wallace and Shelbi Stewart with 13 and 12 kills, respectively, while Casey Fletcher posted 20 digs to lead defensive efforts.

SCOUTING THE TEXANNS
Tarleton State has alternated a loss with a win over its last eight matches since claiming a sweep over Midwestern State last month in Stephenville. Senior outside hitter Stacie Murrah paces a deep TexAnn attack with 3.21 kills per set supported by junior outside hitter Kaitlyn White (2.52 kps), senior outside hitter Jazmine Green (2.48 kps) and junior outside hitter Katie Covell (2.15 kps). Senior setter Danielle Barker directs the TSU attack with 10.75 assists per set as the TexAnns combined for a .177 team attack percentage. Sophomore middle blocker Meg Umbel (0.78 bps) and junior middle blocker Jasmyne Brown (0.73 bps) pace Tarleton at the net while senior libero Emily Klein leads TSU's defensive play with 5.41 digs per set while Covell adds 3.00 digs per set. The TexAnns ranks seventh in NCAA Division II with 18.84 digs per set and are 54th with 13.01 kills per frame. Tarleton plays a non-conference match at St. Edward's on Tuesday and remain on the road to face MSU on Friday and Cameron on Saturday.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State and Tarleton State meet for the 46th time on the court Friday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The TexAnns grasped the series advantage at 23-22 with a 3-0 win last month in Stephenville; however, the Mustangs are 12-7 against the TexAnns in matches played in Wichita Falls.
 
LAST TIME OUT VS. TARLETON STATE
Tarleton State's Stacie Murrah notched 12 kills to lead the TexAnns to a 25-15, 25-16, 25-13 win over Midwestern State on Sep. 21 in Stephenville. The Mustangs committed 19 attack errors to struggle their way to a .037 attack percentage. Caitlin Wallace paced the Mustangs with six kills.

SCOUTING THE RAMBELLES
No. 19 Angelo State has rebounded from a rough stretch of dropping four of five matches to claim wins over Texas-Permian Basin, Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman's to maintain its hold on second place in the Lone Star Conference race. Senior middle blocker Maddie Huth leads a solid attacking bunch with 3.14 kills per set supported by sophomore outside hitter Arielle Bond (2.93 kps), senior outside hitter Leah McWilliams (2.66 kps) and freshman middle blocker Courtney Bartusiak (2.30 kps). Junior transfer setter Maggi Jo Keffury (New Mexico State) averages 10.91 assists per set to quarterback the Rambelles to a .178 team attack percentage. Huth (0.97 bps) and Bartusiak (0.62) lead ASU at the net, while junior defensive specialist Shelby Wilt (4.63 dps), sophomore defensive specialist Katie MacLeay (3.43 dps) and senior outside hitter Kaelen Valdez (3.41 dps) compose the top back line NCAA Division II averaging 21.04 digs per set as a group. The Rambelles rate 23rd nationally in overall kills per set (13.62) and are 25th in assists per set (12.67). Angelo State takes on Cameron Friday night in Lawton before making its way to Wichita Falls Saturday afternoon.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
Midwestern State and Angelo State meet for the 32nd time on the court Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Rambelles hold a 21-11 edge in the series as the teams have split their 14 meetings at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
 
LAST TIME OUT VS. ANGELO STATE
Midwestern State extended then-No. 9 Angelo State to five sets before falling 25-18, 24-26, 19-25, 25-22, 15-12 on Sep. 20 at Junell Center in San Angelo. The Mustangs controlled an 11-9 edge in the decisive fifth set before committing five consecutive attack errors allowing the Rambelles to escape with the victory. ASU's Arielle Bond erupted for a match-high 24 kills, while Kaitlin Molloy had 13 kills to lead the Mustangs. Caitlin Wallace (12 kills), Nicole Marzick (12 kills) and Sarah Garfield (11 kills) also posted double-digit kill effort for the Mustangs as senior Marija Jovanovic had a season-best 55 set assists. MSU junior libero Casey Fletcher added 27 digs and redshirt-freshman Madelyn Johnson added 24 more to lead the back row as the Mustangs limited the 'Belles to a .169 team attack percentage.
 

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
Midwestern State has righted the ship after falling in six consecutive matches at the start of Lone Star Conference play. The Mustangs have claimed wins in four of its last five with its only loss coming at No. 9-ranked West Texas A&M during the stretch. Senior middle blocker Caitlin Wallace paces the attack with 2.61 kills per set and leads the LSC with a .343 attack percentage. The Mustangs spread the attack as eight players average between 1.38 and 2.32 kills per set. Freshmen Sarah Rosinke (6.14 aps) and Alyssa Fulgium (2.79 aps) direct an MSU attack hitting at a .168 team kill rate. Wallace (0.93) also leads the Mustangs at the net with 0.93 blocks per set with help from freshman Sarah Garfield (0.76 bps). Junior libero Casey Fletcher leads back row efforts with 4.72 digs per set with support from sophomore Nicole Marzik (3.03 dps), junior Kaitlin Molloy (2.83 dps) and redshirt freshman Madelyn Johnson (2.76 dps). Midwestern ranks ninth in NCAA Division II with 18.65 digs per set.
 
THE LSC RACE
Midwestern State trails Texas A&M-Commerce by 1 1/2 games for the sixth and final spot in the LSC Postseason Tournament set for Nov. 21-23 at the site of the LSC champion. West Texas A&M leads the way with a 9-0 mark followed by Angelo State (7-3), Texas Woman's (6-3), Tarleton State (5-3), Texas A&M-Kingsville (4-4), Texas A&M-Commerce (4-5), MSU (3-7), Eastern New Mexico (3-7) and Cameron (0-9).
 
THREE...DOT...THOUGHTS...
Midwestern State split a pair of Lone Star Conference matches falling to West Texas A&M on Friday before defeating Eastern New Mexico on Saturday -- both were decided in four sets... The Mustangs remain 1 1/2 games back of Texas A&M-Commerce for the sixth and final spot in the LSC Postseason Tournament set for Nov. 21-23 at the site of the league champion... Senior right-side hitter Marija Jovanovic paced the Mustangs with 2.75 kills per set over the two matches which included a season 14-kill effort Saturday against ENMU... Jovanovic has posted double-figure kills in three of her last four matches while hitting .398 during the stretch... Senior middle blocker Caitlin Wallace ranks fourth in career block assists with 223 and needs six more to move past Shayna Buxton (1996-99) and Ashley Hester (1997-00) and into second place -- both had 228 career block assists... Wallace rates seventh on MSU's all-time total blocks list with 261 and is within 11 of moving past Lauren Bayer (268/2009-10), Shayna Buxton (269/1996-99) and Ashley Hester (271/1997-00) to take over the No. 4 position... Wallace leads the LSC and ranks 40th in NCAA Division II with a .343 hitting percentage... Wallace ranks eighth in the LSC and 115th in NCAA II with 0.93 blocks per set... Wallace has posted at least three blocks in each of her last six matches... Freshman setter Sarah Rosinke ranks second in the LSC and 167th nationally with 0.37 service aces per set while rating 194th in NCAA II with 6.14 set assists per set... Rosinke host notched eight service aces over her last three matches while matching a season high of four last week at Texas A&M-Kingsville... Junior libero Casey Fletcher rates third in the LSC and 65th nationally with 4.72 digs per set... Fletcher has 10-or-more digs in each of her last 10 matches while topping 20 digs on four occasions including a 21-dig effort Saturday at ENMU... Freshman setter Alyssa Fulgium notched her three double-double of the season with 22 set assists and 12 digs Saturday at Eastern New Mexico... Senior outside hitter Beatriz Villalba hit .207 with 2.00 kills per set last week with seven kills and two errors against West Texas A&M and nine kills with a pair of miscues at Eastern New Mexico... Redshirt-freshman Marissa Olivares needed just two sets to post eight kills with a single error in a 3-1 win at ENMU... Sophomore outside hitter Nicole Marzik narrowly missed a double-double with nine kills and 10 digs Friday at West Texas A&M... Junior Kaitlyn Molloy had six kills without an error Saturday at ENMU...
