KINGSVILLE, Texas -- Caitlin Wallace slammed down 16 kills to lead Midwestern State to its third straight win taking a 17-25, 28-26, 25-21, 25-21 decision over Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday afternoon at Hampton Inn Court.
The senior middle blocker from Amarillo committed just three errors in 32 attacks to post a .406 kill rate as the Mustangs shook off a host start by the Javelinas, who fell to 11-10 overall and 4-4 in Lone Star Conference play.
Texas A&M-Kingsville teed off to hit .481 as a team in the opening set before the Mustangs clamped down with some stellar net play led by Wallace's five total blocks.
Senior
Marija Jovanovic also turned in a solid performance with 10 kills while committing a single error in 21 attempts for a .429 attack percentage.
Junior middle blocker Kaitlyn Molloy added eight kills and eight digs, freshman
Sarah Garfield had seven kills and three blocks and freshman
Cody Moore notched six kills and three total blocks to key a Mustangs' attack.
Freshman setter
Sarah Rosinke finished with a match-high 29 assists, while
Alyssa Fulgium pitched in 17 assists of her own to lead MSU to a .221 team attack percentage.
Junior libero
Casey Fletcher spurred the back row effort with 17 digs, while redshirt-freshman
Madelyn Johnson had 15 digs.
Dedra Brown had 13 kills while Kelsey Washington and Stephanie Johns had 12 kills each for the Javelinas.
Midwestern State (10-7, 2-6) hits the road to face West Texas A&M Friday night in Canyon before completing the swing against Eastern New Mexico Saturday in Portales.
