No. 25 Mustangs rush past McMurry, 66-20

WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- No. 25 Midwestern State pounded McMurry for 476 rushing yards en route to a 66-20 win Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.

Senior running back Keidrick Jackson topped the century mark for the fourth straight week running for 168 yards on 14 carries including scoring runs from 66 and 58 yards to lead the rushing onslaught.

Jackson was just one of five players to run for touchdowns for the Mustangs who delivered the second best team rushing performance in school history. Now, the top two games have come against McMurry as MSU rolled up 522 yards in a 31-27 win on Oct. 26, 1991.

Midwestern's quarterback trio of Jake Glover, Shavodrick Beaver and Quade Coward also proved efficient in the passing game combining to complete 14-of-17 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns.

The Mustangs found the end zone three times in each of the first three quarters to pull away for their fourth consecutive victory.

MSU also produced its first special teams score of the season when Dominique Williams returned a punt 68 yards for a score with 32 seconds remaining in the opening quarter.

Coward, a true freshman making his first collegiate appearance, rushed for 80 yards on seven second half carries while Brandon Gordon and Beaver each ran for 69 yards. Redshirt freshman Dante Taylor added 65 yards on nine totes for the Mustangs.

Freshman quarterback Gabe Rodriguez threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns on 27-of-47 passing to lead the Warhawks, who fell to 1-5 on the season.

Midwestern State takes on No. 12-ranked West Alabama Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.

The Tigers claimed a 49-30 win over top-ranked Valdosta State (Ga.) Thursday night in Livingston.
