Greg Saladino were honored Monday as Lone Star Conference Players of the Week for their out performances against Texas A&M-Kingsville last Saturday.
Jackson, a 5-9, 210 pound junior from Arlington/Bowie, was honored as the LSC Offensive Player of the Week. He ran for 156 yards on 18 carries and scored four touchdowns in leading the Mustangs to a 45-28 win at Texas A&M-Kingsville. Jackson's four touchdowns and 24 points against the Javelinas are the most for an NCAA Division II player this season.
His 73-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter stymied a TAMUK comeback attempt and helped the Mustangs to the best team rushing game in the conference this season with 421 yards.
Jackson, who leads the LSC with 82.7 yards a game, posted the eighth 100-plus rushing game of his career. He now stands eighth on the MSU career rushing list with 1,721 yards, and is third on the MSU career scoring list with 196 points.
Saladino, the 5-10, 170 pound junior from Kingwood, used his double threat abilities to snare the LSC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Saladino nailed a 27-yard field goal and connected on all six point-after-touchdown attempts in the win over the Hoggies. Saladino has connected on all 12 of his PATs this season and is 5-of-5 in field goals as well.
Additionally, Saladino punted five times for a 39.4 average with a long punt of 46 yards and two punts inside the 20. Four of the five punts were fair caught.
Saladino leads LSC kickers in scoring with 9.0 points a game and is second in the league in punting with a 41.1 yard average.
Joining the duo was Angelo State linebacker Rush Seaver who was honored as the LSC Defensive Player of the Week as he led the Rams to a 28-23 upset of then 19th ranked Abilene Christian.

- With the Mustangs win 45-28 win at Texas A&M-Kingsville, the Mustangs have now won seven of their last eight meetings and three of the last four games in Kingsville.
- MSU was the first opponent to win on the new artificial surface at Javelina Stadium.
- Keidrick Jackson's 156-yards against TAMUK was his eighth 100-plus yard rushing effort of his career which ranks as the fourth most in MSU history trailing Dominic Rhodes (14 from 1999-00), Daniel Polk (12 from 2004-07) and Ross Harrison (10 from 2003-06).
- Jackson's 73-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was the second longest rush of his career. His longest run of 77 yards came against Javelinas in 2011.
- Backfield mate Jimmy Pipkin became the 15th rusher in program history to amass four career 100-yard games. Jackson (8), Pipkin (4) and quarterback Brandon Kelsey (5) have accounted for a combined 17 100-yard rushing performances.
- Jackson (262-1721) moved past Phillip Boggs (386-1590 from 1999-03) into eightth place on MSU's all-time rushing list. He needs 62 yards to pass (7th) Derrick Wagoner (304-1781 from 1991-92) and 102 yards to pass (6th) Jerrold Fuqua (355-1822 from 2002-03).
- Brandon Kelsey (184-1448) moved past Lester Bush (289-1423 from 2008-11) into 11th on MSU's all-time rushing list. He needs 59 yards to pass Craig Pettigrew (338-1516) into the Top 10.
- Pipkin needs 139 yards to become the 17th career 1,000-yard rusher in school history .
- Jackson's second career 4-TD rushing game moved him past Rhodes (27 TD from 1999-00) and Ross Harrison (29 TD from 2003-06) into second place on the all-time rushing touchdowns list. He trails only Polk (44 TDs from 2004-07).
- Jackson matched Rhodes (vs. OPSU on 10/14/00 and at ENMU on 9/16/00) as the only MSU backs to score four rushing touchdowns in a game twice. Jackson also did it against A&M-Commerce on 9/17/11. Stephon Brockington had 5 touchdowns against Tarleton State on 9/9/95 and Ross Harrison scored four rushing TDs against Southwestern Oklahoma on 9/3/05.
- Pipkin's 89-yard touchdown in the second quarter Saturday at Texas A&M-Kingsville matched the second longest rushing play in program history as BeeJay Mathis also scored on a 89-yard run on 9/22/07 at East Central. Boggs' 95-yard run on 9/20/03 is the longest rush in program history. Pipkin also has career runs of 87 yards against A&M-C on 9/18/11 and 83 yards against TSU on 10/8/11. He has accounted for three of the 12 rushes of 80 yards or more in program history.
- MSU's 616 yards of total offense was the 11th best offensive performance in school history and the most since the Mustangs rolled up a school record 740 yards of total offense against Abilene Christian last season (10/22/11).
- MSU's rushing outburst of 421 yards was the eighth best ground game in program history and just the second most the Mustangs have posted at Javelina Stadium. MSU ran for 426 yards against TAMUK in Kingsville on 10/20/07.
