WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State used its biggest game of the season at the net to claim its first Lone Star Conference win Saturday taking a 22-25, 25-22, 26-28, 25-21, 15-10 decision over Texas A&M-Kingsville at D.L.Ligon Coliseum.
The Mustangs logged a season-high 12 total team blocks including four in the decisive fifth set to improve to 3-9 on the season and to 1-3 in the LSC.
MSU's strong play at the net allowed it to build momentum in the fifth set as
Caitlin Wallace and
Kasey Decker combined on a block of TAMUK's Kelsee Felux on ball that hover in the air before landing on the line to give the Mustangs a 4-2 edge earlier in the set.
Wallace then combined with
Courtney Haney to deny the Javelinas a chance to tie the set at 7-7 and spurred a 4-0 MSU run to put the Mustangs up 10-6 - a lead the Mustangs maintained the rest of the way.

Michelle Blount who posted 11 kills each, allowed the Mustangs to swing their way back into the game after falling behind two sets to one.
MSU blistered the ball at a .237 clip to earn a 25-21 win in the fourth to force a deciding set.
Senior outside hitter
Shelbi Stewart enjoyed a stellar all-around performance finishing with a season-high 23 digs to go along with 10 kills, three total blocks and four service aces.
Wallace added 10 kills, seven digs and six total blocks while Blount joined in on the block part with six of her own.
MSU also delivered on the back row which limited the Javelinas to a .185 attack percentage as sophomore libero
Casey Fletcher led the way with 25 digs.
Junior outside hitter Dedra Brown paced Texas A&M-Kingsville with 19 kills while sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Washington added 18 kills to go along with 10 digs.
Midwestern State hits the road to take on West Texas A&M Tuesday night in Canyon. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
