WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's quest for a ninth consecutive winning season remained intact Friday as Lindsey Glenn allowed just a pair of unearned runs to lead the Mustangs to a 5-2 Lone Star Conference win over Abilene Christian here Friday afternoon.

The freshman from Healdton, Okla. worked a five-hitter and matched a season high with five strikeouts while upping her season mark to 19-8.

MSU, which improved to 24-23 on the season and to 14-11 in league play, can clinch a winning ledger with two more wins over Abilene Christian for a Senior Day twin bill Saturday at Mustangs Park. First pitches are set for noon and 2 p.m.

The Mustangs built a 5-0 lead through the first three innings highlighted by a two-run single by junior first baseman
Christina Roosmalen in the first inning while
Courtney Bingham and
Mallory Mooney drove in runs on a double and a sacrifice fly respectively in the third inning.

Abilene Christian struggled before getting to Glenn with three hits in the fifth inning taking advantage of a Midwestern error to score two unearned runs on a Courtney Flanary single up the middle to pull within 5-2.

But the Mustangs flashed their leather in the sixth making three outstanding defensive plays. Bingham pegged out pinch hitter Kara Stutesman from right field to first base on a liner to begin the frame before second baseman
Carey Campbell and third baseman
Mallory Mooney speared a pair of line drives to end the inning.

Elena Bennett paced MSU's seven-hit attack with two safeties each to pace the Mustangs' offense.

Peyton Mosely allowed five runs - four earned - on six hits in three innings to take the loss and fall to 11-7 on the season while Caitlyn Crain followed with three innings of one-hit relief.

- Third baseman Mallory Mooney and left fielder Nicki Duff will be honored in Senior Day festivities prior to Game 1 Saturday at Mustangs Park. First pitch is set for noon.
- Junior right fielder Courtney Bingham laced a double to the right-field gap for her 19th two-bagger of the season to tie her own single-season high mark set last season. She added to her career program lead and now has 49 in three seasons for the Mustangs.
- Freshman pitcher Lindsi Glenn matched a season high with five strikeouts previously set at Texas Woman's on March 31. She needs one more win to become just the second freshman to win 20 games in MSU program history. Katie Petersen posted 25 wins in 2007.
- Junior first baseman Christian Roosmalen has a hit in a team-high six consecutive games while leadoff hitter Kim Jerrick has reached base in 14 consecutive games.
- The Mustangs can clinch its ninth consecutive winning campaign with two wins Saturday against Abilene Christian. MSU has never suffered a .500-or-below season record.Â
