Mustangs fall 5-1 to Incarnate Word in Firestone LSC Semifinals

SOUTHLAKE, Texas – The Midwestern State Mustangs concluded their season Friday evening with a 5-1 loss to Incarnate Word in the men's semifinals of the 2012 Firestone Lone Star Conference Championships at the Southlake Tennis Center.
 
The 34th ranked Mustangs closed the season at 9-11 overall.  The 21st ranked Cardinals improved to 8-7 overall and advance to Saturday's tournament championship match against Abilene Christian at 12:30 p.m.
 
The Mustangs won the No. 3 doubles point to get on the scoreboard as Luke Joyce and Kacper Boborykin defeated Brandon Davis and Chris Lawson 8-3.
 
MSU though couldn't collect the other two doubles points as Jarrod Liston and Tomas Grejtak fell to 18th ranked Aiden DeLeon and Carlos Olvera 8-4 at No. 1.  Mario Urban and Colby Meeks then fell to David Ballenger and Luke Trautmann 8-3 at No. 2.
 
In singles action, the Cardinals picked up three wins in singles to pick up the team victory and stop the match.
 
Joyce lost at No. 1 to Olvera, ranked 50th in the country in singles, 6-4, 6-0.
 
Meeks dropped the No. 3 point to Leury Arias 6-3, 6-4, as Liston lost at No. 4 to Ballenger 6-2, 6-4.
 
The other three singles matches went unfinished.
