PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Midwestern State Mustangs ran into a hot West Florida team on Friday, as the Argos swept MSU 9-0.
The 35th-ranked Mustangs (5-7) struggled throughout in dropping the match to the eighth ranked Argos (7-4).
The closest singles match for MSU was at No. 5, where
Kendra Casey lost to Naomi Higa 6-2, 6-3.
Rozike van Rensburg fell at No. 1 to 14th ranked Barbara Oliveira 6-1, 6-2, while
Lindsey Holcomb was downed at No. 2 by Luiza Sonnervig 6-1, 6-1.
Sarita Adhikary lost at No. 3 to Sheila Smiley 6-2, 6-0, as
Taylor Coffman lost at No. 4 to Caitlyn Baines 6-1, 6-2 and at No. 6
Lindsey Buenger fell to Hannah Durham 6-0, 6-2.
It was a clean sweep in doubles that started the match, as Holcomb/Adhikary lost at No. 1 to Baines/Smiley 8-3.
The No. 2 team of van Rensburg/Buenger dropped an 8-6 decision to Oliveira and Mariana Sonnervig, with Coffman/Casey losing to Luiza Sonnervig and Durham 8-6 at No. 3.

Scott Linn said. "Just know that for the remainder of the regular season we will not be overwhelmed by our competition."
MSU ends its Southeast spring swing with the loss and will be back on the courts at the MSU Tennis Center this week for matches on Monday and Tuesday. MSU hosts Northwest Missouri State on Monday at 3 p.m., followed by a match against Washburn (Kan.) on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
