SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Midwestern State won most of the tightly contested matches Saturday at the Mabry Tennis Center before dropping its Lone Star Conference opener 6-3 to Incarnate Word.

Jarrod Liston combined with freshman Tomas Grejtek to upend the regionally ranked tandem of Chris Lawson and Leury Arias 9-8 and 7-3 in the tiebreaker, but Incarnate Word edged out the Mustangs in the other two doubles' position to take a 2-1 lead into singles' play.

Colby Meeks outlasted Lawson 1-6, 6-0, 7-6 at No. 2 and Grejtek battled for a 7-6, 4-6, 12-11 win over UIW's Luke Trautmann at No. 6 to account for the Mustangs' winners.
