WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State's Keidrick Jackson and Ken Van Heule garnered Daktronics All-Super Region Four first-team honors Thursday afternoon as released by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America.
Jackson led the nation's No. 3 rushing attack with 1,354 yards while topping the Lone Star Conference in rushing yards per game (123.1) and touchdowns (21).
The 5-9, 210-pound topped the 100-yard mark seven times this season while helping the Mustangs to their second-straight Lone Star Conference championship on the way to a 9-1 regular season mark.
Jackson ran for a season-high 197 yards and a touchdown against Abilene Christian on Oct. 20 after running for 193 yards and three scores in a win over West Alabama on Oct. 4. He scored touchdowns in each of the Mustangs' 11 games this season including a season high four at Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Jackson ranks second on the school's all-time rushing list with 2,827 yards trailing only former Harlon Hill candidate Daniel Polk, who ran for 3,590 yards from 2004-07.
Jackson earned the same award last season and is now a two-time All-LSC first-teamer. He earned Don Hansen and D2Football.com honorable mention acclaim last season.
Van Heule was named to the Daktronics All-Super Region Four's first team for the second straight year.
The senior guard from Hurst, Texas spearheaded an offensive line unit that led the nation by allowing just four sacks in 11 games this season. The unit paved the way for a unit that averaged 323.9 rushing yards per game while scoring 38.6 points per game.
The 2012 LSC Offensive Lineman of the Year earned All-America mention from Don Hansen (second team), Beyond Sports Network (third team) and D2Football.com (honorable mention) last season.
