SATURDAY... Lone Star Conference Champion No. 9 Midwestern State (8-1, 7-1 LSC) hosts the final Lone Star Conference-Gulf South Conference 1st and 10 Challenge game of the season and closes regular season play against West Georgia (3-6, 1-4 GSC). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls. It's Military Appreciation Day and Senior Day for MSU.

SCOUTING THE WOLVES …

West Georgia enters the game having lost two straight and six of their last seven games, including a 52-28 loss at home to then No. 14 West Texas A&M. However, the win was against Gulf South traditional power North Alabama 38-23.  West Georgia suffered a disappointing 24-20 loss at home to Shorter last Saturday that closed GSC action.
The Wolves are under the command of head coach
Daryl Dickey, who sports a 13-36 record in five seasons at UWG and a 41-51 overall record in nine seasons. As a player in 1984, quarterback Dickey came off the bench to lead the University of Tennessee to a Southeastern Conference championship and a Sugar Bowl title.
The Wolves have an offense that has been primarily run oriented, but has started adding a passing component. Sophomore running back
Seth Hinsley leads the ground attack, averaging 69.1 yards a game, ranking fourth in the Gulf South and 82nd nationally. SeniorÂ
David Bailey chips in 59.0 yards a contest, while freshman quarterback
Dallas Dickey, son of the head coach, runs for 43.9 yards an outing and throws for 69.0.
The receiving corps is led by junior
Bobby Burnum who averages 52.2 yards on 28 receptions this season.
Defensively, junior weakside linebacker
Bobby Liggins leads the team with 62 total tackles, followed by junior middle linebacker
 Adam Strakose with 51 stops. Junior rover
Donovan Jackson leads the team with three interceptions and ranks 44th nationally in picks.
UWG is averaging 359.2 yards of total offense a game (fourth in GSC, 96th nationally) to go with 29.7 points an outing (third in GSC, 64th nationally), while allowing 412.2 yards defensively and 30.4 points an outing.Â
All-Time Series: This is the first game between the schools. MSU has a 3-0 record against the Gulf South Conference, including this season's 42-27 win at GSC Champion West Alabama.

NOTEWORTHY
- The Mustangs moved up to No. 9 in the latest AFCA Division II Coaches Poll after being 10th last week. They opened the season No. 4.
- MSU has been ranked in the last 20 polls (including nine in the Top 10), in 42 of the last 47 polls and has received a vote in 81 of the last 82 AFCA coaches polls.
- The Mustangs are ranked No. 7 in the D2Football.com Poll.
- MSU is ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II Super Region 4 rankings.
- Junior running back Keidrick Jackson, the leading rusher in the Lone Star Conference, had 20 carries for 133 yards against West Texas A&M last week to total 1,159 yards for a 128.8 average per game to lead the league and rank 13th in NCAA Division II. Already it's the fourth best rushing season in MSU history.
- Jackson moved up to second on the MSU All-Time rushing list. Now with 2,632 yards, Jackson passed former Indianapolis Colt Dominic Rhodes (1999-2000) who rushed for 2,541 yards and is the top rushing running back in MSU history. Quarterback Daniel Polk (2004-2007) has the MSU record of 3,590 yards rushing, just 958 yards away.
- Jackson continues to lead NCAA Division II in scoring with 12.00 points a game (108 in nine games). He's tied with Klay Fiechter of Indianapolis (120 points in 10 games) and J.B. Mathews of Colorado State-Pueblo (96 points in eight games).
- Jackson was named one of the 24 players to appear on the 2012 Harlon Hill Award Ballot. The Harlon Hill Award recognizes the top player in NCAA Division II football.
- MSU has six 150-yard rushing games from players in 2012, Jackson has four (156-TAMUK, 173-UIW, 193-West Alabama, 197-ACU), Brandon Kelsey has one (156-ASU) and Chauncey Harris one (155-ENMU)
- The signal caller of the Mustangs' Pony Express, senior quarterback Brandon Kelsey recorded a season-high of 348 yards of total offense in the win at WT, the second-highest of his career and 15th best in MSU history. Kelsey threw for a career-high 248 yards on 14-of 22 passes with one touchdown and no interceptions and ran for 100 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries. He recorded his fourth career 200/100 game and the ninth 200/100 game in MSU history.
- Midwestern State is 46-of-49 (93.9%) in the Red Zone through nine games with 38 touchdowns and eight field goals, and while MSU opponents are 28-of-33 (84.8 %) with 20 touchdowns and eight field goals.     Â
- The Mustangs 52-48 win over then 12th ranked West Texas A&M marked the 100th career win for MSU Coach Bill Maskill. Maskill has a career mark of 100-41 (.709) in 13 seasons overall, with a record of 87-33 (.725) at Midwestern in 11 seasons as the winningest coach in Midwestern history.
