WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The 11th ranked Angelo State Rambelles spoiled the start of a huge weekend of Homecoming sports activities with a straight sets 25-23, 25-21, 25-21 win over Midwestern State on Friday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The Mustangs (4-16, 2-8) stayed with the Belles (17-3, 10-1) in all three sets before the Lone Star Conference leaders extended the MSU slide to four straight. ASU picked up it's fifth straight win.
Midwestern senior
Shelbi Stewart led the way for the Mustangs, just missing a double-double with 12 kills and nine digs.
Junior
Caitlin Wallace tallied 11 kills on the afternoon and led the Mustangs attack with a .370 hitting percentage, with a block and two digs.
Angelo State was paced by the play of Kaelen Valdez who tallied 15 kills with a block and Maddie Huth who hit .435 with 12 kills and seven digs.
The Mustangs close their Homecoming home stand against Tarleton State on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. It's the annual Dig for the Cure match for MSU to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer.
Special raffle tickets will be available for $2 each with all proceeds going to support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. Gifts for the raffle have been donated by KellyKate Photography, JoS A. Bank Clothiers, Back Basix, Maryland's Beauty Salon, Spa on the Plaza and Jason's Deli.
