Gober delivers in Midwestern's 61-60 win over Bronchos

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State displayed some grit and whole lot of determination to come away with a 61-60 win over Central Oklahoma Wednesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The Mustangs extended their current winning streak to four games and has now won seven of their last eight games to improve to 8-3 on the season.

MSU resumes Lone Star Conference play Saturday afternoon against Texas Woman's University. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. from Ligon Coliseum.

And Shatoia Gober took center stage in the in the final minute to deliver the Mustangs' first win over Central OKlahoma since 2006.

The 5-8 freshman from Waco Midway intercepted Jill Bryan's attempted pass to the left wing with 17 seconds remaining and fed a lead pass to sophomore Skyler Warrick.

Warrick earned her way to the free throw line and hit one of two charity tosses to give MSU the slim 61-60 lead.

Gober then sealed the game by drawing a charge from UCO's Heather Davis with 1.5 seconds left.

Gober and Warrick combined for 14 points as the second unit pushed the Mustangs out to a 31-20 lead late in the first half.

But Central Oklahoma charged back to take their first and only lead in the second half when Heather Davis connected on a pair of free throws for a 60-58 advantage with 1:19 to play.

Freshman guard Dianna Jones hit a hanging jumper in the lane to tie the game with 50 seconds remaining before Gober closed out the win.

Sophomore guard Kirsti Degelia paced the Mustangs with 10 points and six rebounds while Warrick and Gober had nine points each.

Seniors Cierra Thompson and Savannah Carver pitched in eight points apiece.

Davis dropped in a game-high 16 points while Savannah Hamilton added 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead Central Oklahoma which fell to 10-6 on the season.
