WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State's Keidrick Jackson accounted for 228 yards of total offense and four touchdowns to lead Midwestern State to a 44-38 Lone Star Conference win over No. 16 Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.

The Mustangs rolled up 512 yards of total offense and constructed a 23-0 lead in the opening half before Texas A&M-Kingsville roared back to make a game of it.

Jackson took a swing pass 45 yards for a touchdown for the lone score of the first quarter.

MSU's Greg Saladino hit a 43-yard field to open second quarter scoring before Lester Bush rushed for scores from 13 and 1 yard out to push the lead to 23-0.

Then the tide turned as the Javelinas got on the board on Kerry Wheatfall returned a blocked PAT kick for two points with 8:26 to go in the opening half.

Texas A&M-Kingsville rallied to within 23-16 on Rockeem Collins' 49-yard interception return for a TD two minutes into the second half.

The teams exchanged haymakers for the rest of the game as Jackson scoring on runs of 77 and 2 yards to allow MSU to stave off the Javelina rush.

Jackson also paced the Mustangs' receiving corps with four receptions for 68 yards, while Bush finished with 92 yards on 20 carries.

Texas A&M-Kingsville's Randall Toney ran for 111 yards on 10 carries and quarterback Nate Poppell connected on 21-of-39 passes for 219 and two touchdowns but was sacked four times.

Midwestern State takes on Incarnate Word next Saturday in San Antonio. Kickoff is set for 7:08 p.m.
