Overall, MSU has won 10 consecutive season openers dating back to a 34-13 setback against NCAA Division I FCS Texas State on Aug. 31, 2000.

The Mustangs are 15-8 in season openers since bringing back football in 1988, but are 6-6 in road openers.

Missouri S&T claimed a 34-23 win at Oklahoma Panhandle State last weekend in Goodwell to go to 1-0 for the first time since beating Upper Iowa to begin the 2005 campaign.

The Miners are the defending Great Lakes Valley Conference champions.

The Mustangs also return two of their top three tacklers in senior linebacker Ty Duncan (71 tackles) and junior linebacker Matt Ellerbrock (70 tackles).
