Junior forward Anthony Harris notched 13 points and had three steals to help Midwestern to an 84-47 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan Friday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Mustangs improved to 11-0 on the season.

Mustangs take 11th straight, belt Oklahoma Wesleyan 84-47

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Fourteen different players entered the scorebook as No. 19 Midwestern State whipped NAIA Oklahoma Wesleyan 84-47 Friday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The win extended a number of streaks for the Mustangs, who improved to 11-0 on the season.

MSU has now won 11-straight games for the first time since last season, matched the third best start in school history (11-0 in 1998-99) and has now been victorious in its last 44 contests versus non-D1/D2 opponents.

The Mustangs one of eight remaining undefeated teams in NCAA Division II.

Oklahoma Wesleyan (7-9) took leads at 2-0 and 4-2 before Midwestern connected on eight consecutive shots including four dunks in the opening three minutes of a 17-2 run to construct a 19-4 lead on a Kevin Grayer free throw with 14:22 left until halftime.

Midwestern led by as many as 25 points in the opening half on a transition dunk by Thomas Colbert with 2:50 to play. Colbert was whistled for slapping the backboard on the slam as the Eagles rallied to close the gap to 41-22 at the half.

The Mustangs overpowered Oklahoma Wesleyan in the second half using a myriad of lineups allowing 16 players to see floor time.

Darrick Thomas (13 points, 7 rebounds), Anthony Harris (13 points, 3 rebounds), David Terrell (13 points, 4 rebounds) and Michael Loyd (12 points, 6 assists) landed in double figures for the Mustangs, while Colbert added seven points and five rebounds.

The Mustangs limited Oklahoma Wesleyan to 33.3 percent shooting from the field, while burning the nets at a 56.7-percent clip.

Phillip Jahn paced the Eagles with nine points, while Brian James, Steven Cooks and Caleb Gentry had eight points each.

The Mustangs hit the road to face Central Oklahoma on Thursday, Jan. 5 at Hamilton Fieldhouse in Edmond. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
