About the Mustangs

Junior guard JaMichael Rivers poured in 30 points including 21 in the second half as Midwestern State rallied from a 12-point deficit with just over eight minutes remaining Monday at Junell Center/Stephens Arena.

The Mustangs rallied for a 65-61 win to improve to 7-0 for just the eighth time in program history while improving to a 2-0 in Lone Star Conference play.

MSU is one of just 14 NCAA Division II undefeated teams remaining this season. A victory Wednesday night would give the Mustangs just their third 3-0 start in LSC play and the first since 2000-01.

Rivers now leads MSU in scoring at 12.4 points per game and is joined in double figures by senior guard MIchael Loyd (12.1 points, 2.8 assists) and junior forward Anthony Harris (10.3 points, 5.7 rebounds).

Senior forward David Terrell has double-doubles in each of his last two outings after notching 11 points and 11 rebounds Monday night at Angelo State. The Houston native is averaging 8.5 points and 7.5 rebounds this season.

About the Cardinals

Incarnate Word (6-4) had its modest two-game winning streak snapped with a 71-59 loss Saturday night at Tarleton State.

The Cardinals boast a quartet of players averaging in double figures including junior forward Dionelle Rucker (12.5 points, 5.3 rebounds), senior forward Chris Johnson (12.2 points, 9.1 rebounds), senior guard Shaun Umeh (11.0 points, 4.0 rebounds) and junior guard Lyndale Brown (10.6 points, 4.1 rebounds).

Incarnate Word claimed a 90-83 double overtime win over Midwestern State last season at McDermott Center.

About the Series

Midwestern State meets Incarnate for the 22nd time on the hardwood Wednesday night at McDermott Center.

The Cardinals own an 11-9 edge in the series which dates back, but MSU has claimed five of the last six contests in the series.

Senior guard Michael Loyd poured in 25 points to lead the Mustangs an 81-71 win over UIW in their last meeting on Feb. 12, 2011 at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

Incarnate Word owns a scant 5-4 edge in meetings between the programs in San Antonio.
