ABOUT THE LSC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Â
The top six teams meet at the site of the regular season championship. The winner of the single elimination tournament receives the league automatic qualification into the NCAA Division II Playoffs.

Quarterfinal round play commenced Thursday with West Texas A&M claiming a 1-0 win over Eastern New Mexico before Texas A&M-Commerce advanced on penalty kicks after battling Angelo State to a 1-1 draw.

Friday's semifinal matchups pit MSU against West Texas A&M at noon, while Texas A&M-Commerce battles host and top-seed Abilene Christian at 2:30 p.m.

The winners advance to LSC Championship final set for Sunday at 1 p.m.

MSU IN THE LSC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Midwestern State is making its 16th appearance in the Lone Star Conference Championships. The Mustangs are the lone program conference to appear in each of the league's postseason tournaments.

MSU is 13-13-1 while winning championships in 1996 and 1998. The Mustangs have appeared in six league final contests.

Midwestern State split its regular season games against West Texas A&M.

The Lady Buffs took a 2-1 result on a controversial goal by Melissa Carnero in the 103rd minute of the second overtime on Sep. 23 in Canyon.

Katy Catney goals on Oct. 7 at the MSU Soccer Field.
