#12 West Texas A&M too much for Mustangs

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - West Texas A&M's Stormi Lancaster and Ashley Davis slammed down 11 kills each to lead the 12th-ranked Lady Buffs to a 25-22, 25-10, 25-12 over Midwestern State in Lone Star Conference action Tuesday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

The Mustangs, who fell to 15-10 overall and to 7-9 in league play, take on Dallas Baptist for Senior Night at home Thursday. First serve is set for 7 p.m.

Playing without senior leader Miranda Byrd, MSU was unable to sustain a presence at the net as the Mustangs managed a single block on by a combination of Caitlin Wallace and Shelbi Stewart in the third set.

That wasn't nearly enough to hold back a Lady Buff attack which posted an opponent season best .370 team attack percentage.

Meanwhile WT junior Erin Daugherty proved to be a beast at the net with nine kills and nine blocks.

The Lady Buffs totaled 11 blocks to force the Mustangs into a negative team attack percentage over the final two sets of the match and a season low .060 team kill rate.

Senior outside hitter Hillary White put down a nine kills and had four digs, while junior outside hitter Shelbi Stewart added seven dills and three digs.

Senior libero Kiara Jordan paced back row efforts with 18 digs.

West Texas A&M improved to 25-2 on the season and to 15-1 in LSC play.
