EDMOND, Okla. - Keidrick Jackson rushed for a team-high 137 yards - all in the second half - to lift No. 10 Midwestern State to a 30-24 come-from-behind win over Central Oklahoma Saturday night at Wantland Stadium.
The Mustangs overcame a 24-17 deficit in the fourth quarter as Jackson keyed the comeback with a 69-yard dash for a score with 13:56 remaining in the contest as the Mustangs bruised UCO for 150 rushing yards in the final stanza.
Chauncey Harris put MSU ahead for good by polishing off an 11-play, 73-yard drive with an 11-yard rush around the left end to give the Mustangs a 30-24 lead with 5:13 to go after Central Oklahoma's Randy Stanley blocked the point-after attempt.
Austin McDaniel sealed the victory with his first interception of the season with 1:16 remaining.
Jackson's performance dashed a brilliant effort by Central Oklahoma's Josh Birmingham, who rushed for 183 yards on 18 carries and two touchdowns including an 81-yard run to give UCO a 14-10 advantage just 24 seconds into the second half.
The Mustangs regained the lead on their next possession as Eskridge capped a 12-play, 68-yard drive with a 1-yard scamper around the right end with 10:16 to in the third quarter.
Central Oklahoma would tie the score on a 25-yard field goal by Chris Robbs before retaking the lead on Ethan Sharp's 21-yard connection to a wide open Tucker Holland as the Bronchos led 24-17 on the first play of the fourth quarter before the Mustangs rallied.
Eskridge connected on 21-of-33 passes for 212 yards including a 24-yard TD hookup with
Marcus Mathis in the first quarter, while Sharp hit on 25-of-37 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown of his own.
Midwestern's ground game, which came in as NCAA Division II's second-best rushing attack, churned out 263 yards as junior
Lester Bush ran for 48 yards on eight totes while seeing his first action of the season.
Mathis, who was averaging 118 yards a contest, finished with a season-low 37 yards on 15 carries, while Harris finished with 31 yards on seven carries.
Midwestern State, who improved to 4-0 for the fifth-straight season, plays host to Incarnate Word Saturday night at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Central Oklahoma slipped to 1-3.

* Central Oklahoma's Josh Birmingham's 81-yard touchdown run at the start of the second half was the longest rush allowed by an MSU squad during the
Bill Maskill era. Birmingham finished the game with 183 yards to become the first opponent to run for 100-or-more yards this season and the first yielded by MSU since allowing 116 yards from Abilene Christian's Reggie Brown on Nov. 14, 2009.
