LAWTON, Okla. - Midwestern State never found its rhythm in Lone Star Conference crossover play Monday night at Aggie Gym.
Cameron limited the Mustangs to five field goals and 12 first-half points as the Aggies cruised to a 67-51 win to improve to 4-5 on the season.
MSU's first-half point output was the lowest since it scored the same number of points in the opening half of a 56-50 loss on Dec. 11, 2004 also against Aggies in Lawton.
Alexis Williams poured in a game-high 20 points to pace the Aggies as CU creeped out to a 24-12 in the first half when Josie Stewart connected on a baseline 3-pointer with 22 seconds left before halftime.
The Mustangs struggled immensely on the offensive end in the first half. MSU connected on 5-of-22 shots from the field (22.7 percent) including an 0-for-6 effort from the arc. Midwestern also misfired on 7-of-9 free throws as it trialed 24-12 at thehalf.
Midwestern recovered to net 39 points in the second half, but it wasn't enough to make up any ground on the Aggies.
Junior forward
Savannah Carver, who was coming off of three consecutive 20-point efforts, led the Mustangs with 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting, while senior forward
Nolisha Markham hustled for 11 points and snagged eight rebounds off of the bench.
Freshman
Rebekah Cluley hit 4-of-5 shots including a 3-pointer to notch each of her 10 points in the second half.
Midwestern State (2-5) plays host to Texas Woman's University Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
