WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Krysta Grimm and Anastasia March lifted Abilene Christian to its first Lone Star Conference Championship final berth and lifted the Wildcats to a 2-0 win over Angelo State Friday night at the MSU Soccer Field.
ACU, which improved to 15-3 on the season, will face the winner of Friday night's second semifinal between top-seed Midwestern State and Central Oklahoma for a league title Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Wildcats dominated play with an overall 21-11 shot advantage after surviving a pair of quality chances by Angelo State's Brandie DeBacker in the games opening minutes.
After that, it was all ACU as Grimm took a cross from Julie Coppedge and struck it off of the crossbar and into the goal to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead at intermission.
Nelson collected a loose ball in the box and put it past divin Angelo State keeper Melanie Peterson to give ACU a commanding two-goal lead in the 67th minute.
Angelo State dropped to 13-6-1 on the season.
