Midwestern tames Savage Storm, 75-41

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Midwestern State needed all of 9 minutes and 35 seconds to assert its will in Tuesday night's Lone Star Conference crossover tilt against Southeastern Oklahoma.

The Mustangs rattled off 13 points before the Savage Storm tallied their first points over five minutes into the contest. Then, MSU ran off the next 12 points and cruised to a 75-41 win to claim a 32nd straight victory at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

"I was proud of our defense early and I made a point of that," MSU coach Grant McCasland said. "I didn't feel like we'd come out ready to play defensively (this season) and our guys were absolutely great tonight."

The Mustangs led 25-2 when David Terrell slammed in of his six dunks on the night at the 10:25 mark of the first half.

The junior transfer from Midland College via Morehead State needed just 14 minutes in the first half to notch a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds and would finish the game with 16 points and 19 rebounds with 12 of them coming on the offensive end.

The Mustangs rode Terrell's athleticism and 18 first-half points from senior guard Chris Hagan to a commanding 50-21 halftime advantage.

"I felt we were really tough tonight," McCasland said. "We made shots and we made them guard us. I'm super proud of the way we are playing right now. That's championship basketball."

Hagan finished the night with 27 points and four steals.

Charlie Logan capped off of an all-around game with four points, seven rebounds, five blocked shots and two steals while brother Keonte' Logan had three points, six assists and three steals off of the bench.

The Mustangs limited the Savage Storm to a 27.5 field goal percentage and turned 22 Southeastern miscues into a 30-9 points off of turnovers advantage.
