Midwestern punches ticket to LSC Championship, strikes down Aggies 3-1

LAWTON, Okla. - Midwestern State got defensive Tuesday night to clinch its fourth straight berth in the Lone Star Conference Championship by posting a 25-19, 20-25, 25-15, 25-18 win over Cameron at Aggie Gym.

The Mustangs will be no worse than the No. 4 seed in the league tournament which will take place at at the campus site of the LSC's regular season champion from Nov. 11-14.

"That's what everyone is playing for," MSU coach Venera Flores-Stafford said. "That's just a another step forward and hope we can make a push for it. We just can't look past Tarleton. That's what we'll be preparing for tomorrow."

Freshman middle blocker Caitlin Wallace led a 13 total team block effort at the net with one solo seven block assists as Midwestern limited the Aggies to a sub-.100 team attack percentage in three of the four sets.

Junior Hillary White delivered a solid all-around performance for her 11th double-double of the season as the North Richland Hills native finished with 10 kills, 16 digs and four total blocks.

Karolina Damjanovic contributed at the net but was errorless in 27 total attacks to match sophomore outside hitter Shelbi Stewart with a team-high 11 kills.

In her second start for injured libero Kiara Jordan, sophomore Taylor Parker led back row effort with 19 digs and was perfect on 29 service receptions, while Miranda Byrd added 14 digs of her own.

Sophomore Kimberly Jeffrey logged a game-high 36 set assists while piloting the Mustangs to a .169 team attack percentage.

Megan Oliverez paced the Cameron attack with 15 kills, while Adrienne Lawson and Mariah Westlake paced back row efforts with 15 digs each.

Midwestern State closes the regular season Thursday night against Tarleton State. Senior Night festivities begin at 7 p.m. at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
