OKLAHOMA CITY – The Midwestern State women stand seventh after the first round of the Mahogany-UCO Classic at the Lincoln Park East Course.

The Mustangs shot a 309 as a team for the opening round on the par 70, 6,120 yard course, but are just eight strokes out of third in the 17 team field.

Host Central Oklahoma blistered the course with a 289, just nine-over-par as a team. St. Edwards is second at 297, while Newman is third at 301.

Sophomore Taylor Klutts fired a four-over 74 to tie for 10th after the first round. Sophomore Kendra Whittley posted a 76 to stand 15th, while senior Kyla Whittley is 30th with an opening round 79 for MSU.

Sophomore Lindsay Burkhart added an 80 as a counting score, with sophomore Megan Richardson tallied an 85.

Chaney Uhles of UCO and Linzi Allan of Newman (Kan.) are tied for the individual lead at one-over 71. UCO's Eric Bensch is alone in third with a 72, while six others are two back at 73.

The final round is slated for Tuesday.
