PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Sophomore Kendra Whittley led Midwestern State to a 12th-place showing as the Mustangs gained three strokes in Tuesday's final round of the NSU Shark Invitational played at the Par-72, 6,115-yard PGA National-Palmer Course.
 
The Wall native carded a second-round 81 (+9) to place 23rd with a two-round total of 156 (+12) on the individual leader board as MSU improved from a first round total of 330 (+42) to a 327 (+39) in the final round to finish 12th with a two-round team total of 657 (+81).
 
Sophomore Lindsay Burkhart fired the Mustangs' best round of the day with a 7-over 79 to finish with a two-round tally of 164 (+20) to tie for 46th in the 75-player field, while sophomore Lauren Romines improved three strokes with rounds of 85 and 82 for a total of 167 (+23) for a 52nd place showing.
 
Taylor Klutts recorded rounds of 90 and 85 for a total of 175 (+31) to finish tied for 64th, while Kyla Whittley fired an opening round 85 before being disqualified in the final round.
 
Nova Southeastern's Taylor Collins claimed top individual medalist honors with rounds of 73 and 67 for a total of 140 (-4) to lead the host Sharks to the team title with a two-round total of 584 (+8).
 
Midwestern State closes out the fall slate at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate hosted by Cameron University at The Territory in Duncan on Oct. 25 and 26.
