PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Kendra Whittley fired an opening round 75 Monday to lead Midwestern State at the NSU Shark Classic played on the Par-72, 6,115-yard PGA National Palmer Course.

The sophomore from Wall's 3-over round landed her 10th on the individual leader board six strokes behind tournament leading Sandra Changkija of host Nova Southeastern, but was unable to pull trio of 85s as the Mustangs carded a team total of 330 to stand 11th after the opening round.

Senior Kyla Whittley and sophomores Lindsay Burkhart and Lauren Romines all carded 85s (+13) to tie for 51st while Taylor Klutts struggled to a 90 to place 71st.

Nova Southeastern and Florida Southern lead the rest of the field by 18 strokes after carding team totals of 293 and 294, respectively.

The 36-hole tournament concludes Tuesday morning.
