WICHITA FALLS, Texas - No. 7 Abilene Christian rolled to a 9-0 win over No. 34 Midwestern State Monday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center.
The Wildcats dominated doubles' play with Irene Squillaci/Jaclyn Walker defeating
Kaja Banas/Mica Vinson 8-4 at No. 1 while Sarah Drummond/Dina Pavlin beat
Alex Odell-Michels/
Collean Kinser 8-3 at No. 2 and Natalie Friend/Lauren White doubled up
Faye D'Hamecourt/
Tonya Blair 8-4 at No. 3.
Odell-Michels was the lone MSU player to stretch the Wildcats to split sets in singles before succumbing to Squillaci 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1.
Abilene Christian earned straight-set wins at each of the other singles' positions as Walker blanked Banas 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, Drummond dusted D'Hamecourt 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3, Pavlin beat Blair 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4, Cassie Carver bested Vinson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Friend streaked past Kinser 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6.
Midwestern State fell to 4-4 on the season.
