About the Mustangs
Midwestern State (8-16, 3-7) will try to end its season on a positive note as the Mustangs battle Angelo State at Junell Center/Stephens Arena on Wednesday before closing the season Saturday against Texas A&M-Kingsville at D.L Ligon Coliseum.
The Mustangs are 2-11 on the road this season and have dropped five of the last six.
MSU defeated Angelo State 79-77 in overtime on Jan. 14 at D.L. Ligon Coliseum behind a career-best 29-point performance by junior guard Andrea Buben.
About the Rambelles
Angelo State (15-10, 6-4) has won four of its last five, but the Rambelles are coming off of a narrow 51-47 win over Eastern New Mexico last Saturday at Junell Center/Stephens Arena.
ASU has fared well on its home floor this season as the Rambells has posted a 9-2 mark with its lone losses coming to St. Edward's (67-58 on Nov. 18) and to West Texas A&M (61-49 on Feb. 18).
Angelo ends the regular season Saturday night against Tarleton State at Wisdom Gym in Stephenville.
Look out for
Midwestern State junior guard Andrea Buben poured in a season high 29 points against Angelo State in the first go around this season and is 9.2 points per game this season and leads MSU with 39 3-pointers this season.
MSU senior center Regiane Araujo continues to lead the Mustansg in scoring (13.6 poins per game) and rebounds (nine per game).
Araujo had a four-game stretch of double-figure scoring games snapped at Abilene Christian last Saturday when she scored eight points and pulled down nine rebounds.
Angelo State is led by sophomore Camille Perkins who averages 13.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.
The 5-8 guard from Groesbeck has led the Rambelles in scoring 14 times this season including a season-high 28 points at Central Oklahoma on Jan. 10.
Perkins posted 23 points against Midwestern on Jan. 14 in Wichita Falls.
Senior Ann Parks is the only other Rambelle in double figures at exactly 10 points per game.
The 6-1 center paces Angelo State with 7.1 rebounds per game.
About the series
Midwestern State and Angelo State meet for the 46th time on the hardwood Wednesday night at Junell Center/Stephens Arena.
The Rambells hold a 24-21 lead in the series and have claimed win in each of the last four games in the series and eight of the last nine dating back to the 2003-04 season.
MSU's lone win during the stretch came in a 53-51 decision on Feb. 3, 2007 at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The Mustangs are 0-7 against the Rambelles at Junell Center/Stephens Arena since the facility opened on Jan. 17, 2002.
MSU did defeat Cameron 68-59 in the 2002 Lone Star Conference semifinals to account for its lone win at the Junell Center.
