DENTON, Texas - Texas Woman's University sent 12 hitters to the plate in the fourth inning to score eight runs as the Pioneers cruised to an 9-1 win over Midwestern State in Tuesday's nightcap at Pioneer Field.

The loss snapped a 10-game winning streak for the Mustangs, who fell to 11-5 on the season.

Midwestern plays host to Angelo State Saturday afternoon at Mustangs Park. First pitch for the twin bill is set for 1 p.m.

Midwestern struck first after Maranda Bishop laced a double to the left-field gap in the third inning before advancing to third on Nicki Duff's groundout to second base before scoring on a wild pitch to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead.

But the Pioneers batted around and scored eight runs on four hits in the decisive fourth inning keyed by Billie Callahan's bases loaded, bases clearing double to center field after Lindsey Lipscomb painted the left field line with a run scoring double earlier in the frame.

The Pioneers forced the final run across on Tiffanie Boone's soft single to center field to score the final run of the game after Kayla Behrle reached on an error.

Brittney Tanner took the loss for the Mustangs to fall to 5-2. She allowed nine runs - eight earned - on six hits with six strikeouts and four walks in 4 2/3 innings.

Bishop paced the Midwestern's six-hit attack by going 2-for-3 with a double.

Ashley Martin evened her record at 3-3 for the Pioneers after allowing a run on six hits while striking out three and walking one in five innings.

Texas Woman's improved to 11-11 on the season.
