Duff leads Mustangs to second-straight win, MSU best SWOSU 66-58

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Michelle Duff connected for a season-high 14 points to lead Midwestern State to its second-straight victory as the Mustangs cruised past Southwestern Oklahoma State 66-58 in Lone Star Conference crossover play Monday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

The Mustangs, who improved to 4-6 on the season, go into the break winning consecutive games for the first time since taking the first three of the 2009 calendar year. MSU takes on Arkansas Tech on Dec. 30 in Russellville.

Duff used her quickness to create opportunities in the lane as the senior guard from Scotland connected on 4-of-5 shots from the field and hit 6-of-10 shots from the free-throw line as the Mustangs led for all but the first two minutes of the contest.

The Mustangs used a 13-2 run midway through the opening half to take control of the game and would lead by as many as 14.

Junior guard Andrea Buben went for double figures for the third-straight game as the Duncan native connected on three treys on her way to 13 points in 23 minutes of court time.

Junior forward Nolisha Markham added 11 points, five rebounds and four blocks while Aqueelah Watkins scored each of her 10 points in the second half and pulled in nine rebounds.

Natasha Brown paced Southwestern Oklahoma with 14 points and three steals, while Jenna Sprague had 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Bulldogs dropped to 0-11 on the season.
