No. 10 Midwestern State goes for its 11th-straight home win when the Mustangs take on Texas A&M-Commerce in a Lone Star Conference match Sunday afternoon at the MSU Soccer Field.

Midwestern State (7-0-2) can jump out to a 2-0 Lone Star Conference start with a win over a tough Texas A&M-Commerce squad Sunday afternoon at the MSU Soccer Field.

The Mustangs are on a historical run on many instances this season.

MSU extended its regular season unbeaten string to 16 matches dating back to a 1-0 loss to Texas Woman's University on Oct. 12, 2008 and have now won 10-straight matches at the MSU Soccer Field dating back to a 1-0 setback to Incarnate Word on Sep. 11, 2008.

The Mustangs have also set a new program record with five-straight shutouts and have not allowed a tally in 557:49 of clock time.

Texas A&M-Commerce (6-3) rebounded from a two-match skid with a 1-0 win over Texas Woman's University Tuesday night in Denton.

The Lions, who were NCAA Division II South Central Region finalists last season, had lost three of four matches before breaking out against TWU.

Who's hot

Senior defender/midfielder Megan Hanlon's first goal of the season lifted No. 10 Midwestern to a 1-0 win over Texas Woman's Friday night at the MSU Soccer Field.

It was the Plano native's fourth career goal.

The outside back has also played a big role in a Mustangs' defense which has allowed two goals in nine matches this season and came into the weekend ranked fourth in NCAA Division II with a 0.237 goals against average.

Senior center mid Kari Bristow notched her 21st career assist on Hanlon's goal Friday against TWU.

With the assist, she matched Dayna Sanders (2000-03) to become the program's all-time assists leader with 21.

Texas A&M-Commerce is led by senior forward Meagan Lasley, who has scored eight goals and tallied four assists in matches for the Lions this season. Lasley was a third-team NSCAA All-American in 2008.

About the series

Midwestern State and Texas A&M-Commerce meet for the 22nd occasion on the soccer pitch Sunday afternoon at the MSU Soccer Field.

The Mustangs own a 10-8-3 edge in the series, but the Lions claimed each of the meetings last season.

Texas A&M-Commerce got a goal in the 107th minute from Chelsey Haight to take a 2-1 win in two overtimes on Oct. 10, 2008 in Commerce, then scored a 3-0 victory over MSU in the Lone Star Conference semifinals on Nov. 7, 2008 in Canyon, Texas.
