Mustangs face streaking Abilene Christian tonight at Ligon Coliseum

What's going on: Midwestern State battles Abilene Christian in a Lone Star Conference South Division contest Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. or 25 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game which tips at 6.

For the record: The Mustangs have dropped four of their last five and are 8-9 on the season and 0-3 in Lone Star Conference South Division play, while the Wildcats have won 11-straight games and roll into town at 15-2 and 2-0.

What's at stake: The Mustangs desperately need a win to spark a turn in season momentum. MSU is currently tied for the bottom spot in the LSC's South Division and is two games out of the fourth and final spot in the Road to Bartlesville for the LSC Championship Tournament in March.

Abilene Christian is looking to extend its winning streak to keep pace with West Texas A&M (13-5, 3-0) and Tarleton State (15-2, 2-0). The Buffs and Texans battle in Stephenville on Saturday night.

Who's hot: Midwestern State's Nolan Richardson IV is averaging 19.3 points over his last four games including a team-high 24 points Wednesday night at West Texas A&M. The junior guard from Tulsa has shot 45.2-percent from the field while hitting 14-of-17 (82.4 percent) from the free throw line.

Abilene Christian's Cameron Holson paced the Wildcats in its last two victories by scoring 16 points in a 73-63 win against Eastern New Mexico Tuesday night after scoring 18 in a 77-73 victory against Angelo State last Saturday at Junell Center/Stephens Arena in San Angelo. The junior forward from Tuscola is the Wildcats' fourth-leading scorer averaging 9.9 points while pulling down 4.4 rebounds a contest.

The Series: Midwestern State leads the all-time series 43-28, including a 14-5 edge in games played at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Current MSU coach Jeff Ray is 14-4 against the Wildcats.
