SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Incarnate Word scored three goals after intermission to claim a 3-0 win over Midwestern State Sunday afternoon at Cardinals Field.
The Cardinals (7-1-1) capitalized on three of their six second shots after intermission as Lianah Flores and Ashley Phipps notched unassisted tallies before Sarah Hernandez closed out scoring in the 85th minute by converting Lauren Lalane's cross into the box.
Midwestern State, which fell to 6-2-2, outshot Incarnate Word by a 9-8 margin, but was unable to put any of its five shots on goal past Ashton Caffrey, who earned her fourth shutout of the season.
The Mustangs, who took two of their three matches on the weekend's road swing, return to the MSU Soccer Field for a five-game home stand starting Wednesday afternoon against Abilene Christian. Kickoff against the Wildcats is set for 6 p.m.
