Mustangs drop 70-66 decision in overtime to Texas A&M International

AUSTIN, Texas - Texas A&M International was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free three in the final minute of overtime as Midwestern State fell to the Dustdevils 70-66 Saturday afternoon at St. Edward's Recreation and Convocation Center.

The Mustangs fell to 0-2 on the season and return to D.L. Ligon Coliseum Tuesday when they face the University of Texas of the Permian Basin with a 7 p.m. slated tipoff.

Midwestern State, which led by as many as eight points with 8:15 remaining in regulation maintained a four-point advanatege when Chris Davis found Earl Rabb cutting free a layup on the baseline with 6:36 to go.

The Mustangs could managed just one field goal the rest of the way as Texas A&M International had a chance to win in regulation, but Sean Tucker hit just one of two charity tosses with 10 seconds to go.

Nolan Richardson IV paced the Mustangs with 17 points and five rebounds, while Trajinski Grigsby notched his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Michael Godwin also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards.

Chris Davis added 12 points, five assists and four rebounds.

Texas A&M International, which improved to 1-2, was led by Chris Swan, who had 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
