KINGSVILLE, Texas – Allison Schreiber fell one kill shy of her first career triple-double earlier this week against Dallas Baptist.
But the junior setter finished the deed by helping the Mustangs to a 30-23, 30-17, 28-30, 30-21 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville Thursday night at Kleburg Bank Court in Steinke Center.
Schreiber finished with a career-high 10 kills, while adding 51 assists and 15 digs, while also directing an efficient MSU offense to a .282 hitting night.
"She had a phenomenal night," MSU coach
Venera Flores-Stafford said. "She's done a great job this season being aggressive. It's showing up on the stat page now."
The Mustangs improved to 22-3 on the season by claiming their eight-straight win and 20th victory in their last 21 matches despite being without their top offensive weapon.
"Krissa (Johnson) was under the weather," Flores-Stafford said. "We had to switch up the lineup and the girls did a good job of adjusting to that."
Sophomore middle blocker
Sesley Graves picked up the slack with 15 kills and a .500 attack percentage. She also added eight blocks to follow up a 10-block performance earlier in the week.
Whitney Maxwell and
Alysha Pritt added 14 kills each, while junior libero
Shay Velasquez had 20 digs.
Midwestern State continues its road trip Saturday when it battles Tarleton State in Stephenville. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
