MSU rips Oklahoma Panhandle State 89-73

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Midwestern State University Mustangs never trailed as they ran their winning streak to seven straight with an 89-73 non-conference victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State Monday night at Gerald Stockton Court in D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

MSU picked up it's 10th win of the season with the triumph to go to 10-3, while Oklahoma Panhandle State fell to 2-11 on the year.

Midwestern State and OPSU tied at 2 and 4 before the Mustangs went on an 13-4 run and the Aggies never got close again.

The Mustangs led 42-32 at the half and let OPSU remain close until 13:19 mark.  That's when senior Chris Francois' layup started a 12-0 run to open over the next two minutes and ending the Aggies' chances.

For the second straight game, all 13 Mustangs saw action, led by senior Eric Dawson's eighth double-double of the season.  Dawson chalked up 24 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, three blocks and three steals in 26 minutes.

Junior Christopher Reay added 13 points, while seniors Drew Coffman and Chad Rickett each tallied 10 points.

OPSU got 18 points and seven boards from LaChawn Anderson, with E.J. Ollison scoring 16 points and Luke Ogden 11.  Fred Durr also had seven rebounds for the Aggies.

MSU shot 45.7 percent from the floor and 30.4 percent from the three-point arc in the contest.  The Mustangs were 18-of-29 from the foul line, just 62.1 percent, as well.

Oklahoma Panhandle hit 45.5 percent from the floor, and 4-of-15 from the three-point arc.  The Aggies were 19-of-28 from the line.

MSU closed a four-game home stand, winning all four games.

The Mustangs hit the road this weekend for games at Northeastern State on Thursday and at Central Oklahoma on Saturday.
