WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Junior
Krissa Johnson collected 16 kills to lead the Midwestern State University Mustangs to a 3-1 victory over Dallas Baptist University in non-conference volleyball action Tuesday night at Gerald Stockton Court in D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
MSU (10-7) took the match 30-22, 18-30, 30-17 and 30-25.
Johnson of Denver City hit .262 with her 16 kills to go with five blocks. Sophomore
Shay Velasquez of Amarillo/River Road and freshman
Jessica Ransom of Wichita Falls High each chalked up 13 kills. Sophomore
Allison Schreiber collected 54 assists.
MSU claimed games one and three rather easily, but struggled in game two and overcame an early three-point deficit before pulling away to take game four and the match.
DBU (6-14) got 15 kills from senior Jenna Pry and 12 kills from senior Brandi Moss.
MSU is in action again Saturday at Southwestern Oklahoma State. The match begins at 12 noon in Weatherford, Okla.
