WICHITA FALLS, Texas – With a strong showing in doubles and at the bottom of the singles play, the Midwestern State University women's tennis team edged Cameron 5-4 in Lone Star Conference action Wednesday at the MSU Courts.
MSU, 33rd in the latest ITA Division II rankings, picked up an 8-1 victory by the doubles team of
Brenna Jackson and
Michelle Beukes over Cameron's top team of Thatianne Moreira and Sandra Leigh King. Jackson/Beukes are the 11th-ranked doubles team nationally in the ITA rankings.
A doubles win by
Faye D'Hamecourt and
Michelle Watson, combined with singles triumphs by
Cilia Muller, Beukes and
Camila Miranda led the Mustangs to the team win over the 40th ranked Aggies.
The MSU women are in action again Sunday when they team with the MSU men to host Central Oklahoma in LSC play at the MSU Courts.
