TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Midwestern State University women's soccer team scored two goals in the second half to beat the Northeastern State (Okla.) Lady Reds 4-2 on Friday afternoon.
Northeastern (4-9-3, 2-5-0) struck first in the game, scoring just 37 seconds into the game, on a goal from Kacie Hohenberger. Midwestern (7-6-1, 3-2-1) responded with a shot from
Kari Bristow at the top of the box, to tie the game at one. NSU then added a second goal, this time off the foot of Ashley Badeen. The Mustangs
Katy Lukert tied the game with less than one minute left in the first half, her fourth of the season, on a shot from 10 yards out.
In the second half, MSU pulled away with goals from
Megan Bibilone and
Ashley Hornisher. The goals were Bibilone's fourth and Hornisher's second of the season.
Defensively, goal keeper
Heather Primavera came in the second half, and saved three of the four shots she faced to help preserve the win.
The Mustangs will travel to play East Central on Sunday, which will kickoff at 2 p.m.
