WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State University senior
Katherine Maples was named the Lone Star Conference South Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performance in divisional crossover action last week.
Maples, a 6-3 center from Arlington, Va., who attended Lawton (Okla.) High, led the Mustangs to divisional crossover victories against LSC North leader Northeastern State and Central Oklahoma.
Maples averaged 21.5 points, 15.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocked shots and 2.0 assists in the two games. She shot 12-of-27 from the floor (44 percent) and hit 19-of-22 free throws (86 percent).
She pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds along with scoring a season-high 23 points against Northeastern State.
Joining Maples was Cameron's Jonetta Brown as the LSC North Player of the Week.
MSU is at home again on Thursday night when it hosts Texas A&M-Kingsville in LSC South action.
