WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Midwestern State University women's soccer team climbed above the .500 mark on Friday night, winning their final home game by beating East Central (Okla.) 2-0 at the MSU Soccer Field.
MSU (7-6-1 overall, 5-2-0 Lone Star Conference) remains in third place in the LSC with the victory over ECU (2-13-0, 0-7-0).
MSU opened the scoring just four minutes before the half when freshman
Megan Bibilone got a feed from
Kelli Calhoun and buried it from the left side.
The Lady Indians added an insurance goal in the 71st minute when senior
Angela Darrough fed sophomore
Lauren Sierra who blasted a shot from 30 yards out past ECU keeper Christie Sarginson.
MSU dominated the game, outshooting East Central 33-to-6.
Senior
Elli O'Dwyer recorded three saves while facing all 33 shots in over 80 minutes of play. Freshman
Heather Primavera did not see a shot in her nearly 10 minutes of play in goal.
ECU's Sarginson collected 16 saves while allowing the two goals.
MSU has three regular season games remaining, all on the road. The first is a non-conference affair on Sunday against Incarnate Word. Kickoff in San Antonio is set for noon.
