Rob Cummings brings now six years of collegiate coaching experience after being named a full-time assistant coach prior to the 2007 season.
Cummings led Bethel (Tenn.) to back-to-back NAIA national tournament appearances as the Wildcats posted a 26-12-4 (.667) record during his two years at the helm.
Cummings, who was named associate athletics director in 2006, directed Bethel to its best regular season in 2006 at 15-4-2 as the Wildcats topped out at No. 16 in the NSCAA/adidas NAIA National Poll before losing in the regional semifinals.
In 2005, the Wildcats upset NCAA Division II No. 10 St. Leo (Fla.) 2-1 which marked the highest-ranked opponent any Bethel school had beaten regardless of classification.
Cummings coached five honorable mention All-Americans during his two years at Bethel, including Robert Swann, who also garnered Daktronics All-America accolades at Midwestern State in 2007.
Prior to Bethel, he served as the men’s and women’s coach at NCAA Division II St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana where he led the Puma men to their first national ranking in school history.
The women qualified for the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament in each of his two seasons and hosted a first-round match for the first time in five seasons in 2004.
He also coached a first-team all-region performer in central midfielder Adrian Llewelyn, who went on to a professional career overseas.
Cummings spent four seasons as the assistant woman’s coach at Rockhurst in Kansas City where he served as a recruiting coordinator while working on his MBA.
Cummings began his coaching career at Francis Howell North High School in St. Louis as an assistant girls’ coach in 1997 before becoming a head coach of the St. Charles High School boy’s team three games into the 1998 season.
