Zack West was a five-year linebacker at Midwestern State. In his senior season, West made 20 tackles, including 12 solo stops, and had three tackles for loss. West had 1 ½ quarterback sacks. West made four tackles against West Texas A&M. West finished his career at MSU with 30 solo tackles and 54 total tackles. He had 2 ½ sacks with eight tackles for loss during his collegiate career. In 2018, West was named Scout Player of the Year.
West was three-year letter winner for Byron West at Henrietta (Texas) High School. West was a two-time Times Record News Red River 22 Offensive MVP. He rushed for 89 yards including a 48-yard touchdown run to lead East to a 35-6 win in the 2018 Oil Bowl Classic. West garnered Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers' Association (TSWA) Class 3A All-State honorable mention as a senior in 2017 rushing for 1,319 yards and 11 touchdowns while throwing for 1,234 yards and 13 more scores to lead Bearcats to the UIL state playoffs. He was named Offensive Most Valuable Player for District 5-3A-II as a senior. Â West was a standout on the baseball diamond earning first-team all-district honors as a senior and second-team mention following junior year splitting time in the outfield and at pitcher.
West is the son of Quana and Sharon West. His father — Quana West —played college football at Cameron.
